Here are 3 random thoughts:
- "Have To" mindset vs. "Get To" mindset. Instead of approaching tasks that you typically don't find enjoyable with the mindset of "ugh I have to do this," try approaching it with an opportunistic mindset. While the activity itself still probably won't be enjoyable you can at least have the satisfaction that you accomplished the task and that you held a positive mindset throughout. I'm a firm believer that this way of thinking carries over into other aspects of life.
- Make sure you finish your deadlifts. If you simply relax at the top of a deadlift you are missing out on all the glute gains you could be getting. As the bar starts its ascent up your thighs begin to squeeze those suckers as hard as you can. This will not only promote more powerful and aggressive hip extension, but it will also lessen the strain on the lumbar spine. Remember, we want hip extension, not lumbar extension.
- People should never have to wonder if you care about them or not. Make sure that they know you do. This is something I'm constantly working on.
